Ginger Snaps
Mock DVD cover and poster insert for the 2000s Canadian cult-classic horror film Ginger Snaps.
Ginger Snaps tells the story of the inseparable Fitzgerald sisters: Ginger and her younger sister Brigitte, two outcasts in their dreary suburban town. On the night Ginger gets her first period, she is attacked by the beast preying on the neighborhood dogs: a werewolf. From there Ginger begins to transform. In the wake of Ginger's blood-thirsty rampage, Brigitte must save her neighborhood, her sister, and herself.
This mock cover and poster were made in Edward Kinsella's 2025 Art of the Cover class.
Initial Thumbnail sketches
The Ftizgerald sisters cradle each other like wolf cubs. Brigitte assumes a protective stance over Ginger's changing body, as it rips through the surface of the cover.
Ginger is in her bathtub, trying to shave her wolf-like legs and observing her changing body. This idea plays with the parallels of transformation in werewolves and teenage puberty.
